Iyob (Job) 14: 7 - 9 says “For there is expectancy for a tree, if it is cut down, that it does sprout again, and that its tender branch does not cease. Though its root grows old in the earth, and its stump dies in the ground, at the scent of water it buds and brings forth foliage like a plant”.

It is an interesting fact that some species of tree will send up a sprout near the parent tree from the old roots. This may occur many years after the original tree was well established or even appeared to be dead and died down to a stump, and a long time after that it will sprout up and grow into a new tree or branch. This is particularly so with some species such as the olive tree, the antarctic beech, the huon pine and some species of cedar.

The burning bush, from which Yahuah spoke to Moses, is seen to be still growing near the mountain in NW Arabia Jebel al Lawz; Bedouins call this mountain Jebel al Muser, the Mountain of Moses. This is where the Hebrews who had left Mitsrayim (Egypt) all gathered to receive Yahuah’s instructions through Moses. That solitary tree which is very old and straggly in the near desert, and has a base diameter of nearly two metres, is still growing from a sprout that grew up from the old roots, from the original cedar that had been growing there but had long since appeared to be dead.

This sprouting is evident in the olive tree and there is at least one particular tree at the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem which is thousands of years old and is now down to a stump, but a new sprout has come up near it hundreds of years later and has grown into a new tree. This is exactly what Iyob 14: 7 - 9 was telling us.

There are some wonderful prophetic scriptures referring to the coming Messiah as the Branch or Sprout. This word comes from the Hebrew Netzer, which is a Branch. The disciples and followers of Yahusha in the scriptures are known as Netzerim in Hebrew, and are Nazarenes or Nazarene Yisraelites, and still are so called to this day.

Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 23: 5, 6 “See, the days are coming”, declares Yahuah, “when I shall raise up for David a BRANCH of righteousness, and a sovereign shall reign and act wisely and shall do right ruling and righteousness in the earth. In his days Yahudah shall be saved and Yisrael dwell safely. And this is his name whereby he shall be called; ‘Yahuah our Righteousness’.”

This scripture is being fulfilled in the gospel of Mattithyahu (Matt) where He, Yahusha, is referred to as the sovereign or king. The phrase “the kingdom of heaven” is mentioned 32 times and He is the King. This is the only gospel in which this term is used.

Zecharyah (Zechariah) 3: 8 “Now listen, Yehoshua the high priest, you and your companions who sit before you, for they are men of symbol. For look, I am bringing forth my servant - the BRANCH”.

This scripture is being fulfilled in Mark’s gospel in which Yahusha is the Suffering Servant, who acts on the orders of the master of the house straight away. The word “immediately” is mentioned 34 times, many more than in any other of the gospels, and this typifies how Yahusha obeyed His Father’s instructions without question during His ministry on earth.

Zecharyah 6: 12 Thus said Yahuah of hosts, “See, the Man whose name is the BRANCH! And from His place He shall branch out, and He shall build the Temple of Yahuah”.

This scripture is being fulfilled in Luke’s gospel in which He is referred to as ‘the Son of Adam’ or the ‘Son of David’ and in the KJV ‘the Son of Man’. That term is used 30 times altogether. Note that He is of the righteous line of David and that He is building His Heavenly Temple made without hands right now, and His chosen people, the Netzerines or Nazarenes, are the lively stones making up the building blocks.

Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 4: 2 “In that day the BRANCH of Yahuah (or Son of Yahuah) shall be splendid and esteemed. And the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for the escaped ones of Yisrael”.

Note that Yahusha is the first fruit of creation and of the Father.

This scripture is being fulfilled in Yohanan’s (John’s) gospel in which He is the ‘Son of Yahuah’ or the ‘Son of Elohim’, or in the KJV ‘Son of God’. Either of those names are applied to Him at least 10 times but “Father” being His Father is so named 118 times, and ‘Son’, being the Son of Yahuah is so named 51 times.

Yeshayahu 11: 1 - 4 “A ROD shall arise from the stump of Yishai (Jesse) and a SPROUT from his roots shall bear fruit.

The Spirit of Yahuah shall rest upon Him,

The Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding,

The Spirit of Counsel and Might,

The Spirit of Knowledge and of the Fear of Yahuah,

And shall make Him Breathe in the Fear of Yahuah. And He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears, but with righteousness He shall judge the poor”.

This scripture outlines the attributes of the seven Spirits of Yahuah, the Spirits required by the Just One to judge between the worthy and the unworthy at the end of the great tribulation. Note that He has already used these attributes in judging the seven assemblies of Asia in Revelation Chapters 2 and 3.

In the book of Revelation He is the Judge and this is yet to be fulfilled entirely.

Revelation 6: 9, 10 And when He opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the beings of those having been slain for the Word of Elohim and for the witness which they held, and they (the righteous) cried with a loud voice saying, “How long O Master, set-apart and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth”.

As we now see these six scriptures are all referring to the Messiah in some profound way, the King, the Servant, the Son of Adam, the Son of Yahuah or the Judge, and are fulfilling the prophetic scriptures mentioning the BRANCH.

The “ROD arising from the stump of Yishai” is of course referring to Yahusha arising from the House of David hundreds of years later, and ministering the fruitful Word of Yahuah to the House of Yahudah and to the Lost Ten Tribes of Yisrael, for the eventual deliverance and salvation of those who obey His Word, by following the Torah or instructions of Yahuah.

Yeshayahu 60: 21, 22 “And your people, all of them righteous, shall inherit the earth forever, a BRANCH of My planting, a work of My hands to be adorned. The little shall become a thousand, and the small one a great nation. I, Yahuah, shall hasten it in its time”.

Yeshayahu 61: 11 For as the earth brings forth its BUD as the garden causes the seed to SHOOT, so the Master Yahuah causes righteousness and praise to shoot up before all the nations!

This is Yahuah judging His elect, His chosen people, Nazarene Yisraelites, those who follow righteousness through obedience to the Torah and have the instructions of Yahuah written on their hearts, and placing it all in the context of the BRANCH.

Here he is referring to His chosen people as a BRANCH of His planting, and as a BUD that springs up. Wonderful promises to those who would call upon His Name and walk in His ways from our wonderful merciful heavenly Father.

Due to the peoples’ disobedience after King Jereboam had set up idols for them to worship in the two cities of Bethel and Dan, Yahuah cut them off and divorced them. Hosea chapter two is all about this divorce, using Hosea’s adulterous wife as a type of the idolatrous Lost Ten Tribes of Yisrael. Amongst other things they were observing the feast days and sabbaths at the wrong times, and had their months wrong. They were not sighting the dark moon at the time of the aviv barley crop to begin the new year, as they should have been doing and were disobeying the Torah or Instructions of Yahuah.

This is when His sharpness and judgment comes upon them and judges them unworthy, and then divorces them. He said that Yahudah almost had been cut off due to their willfulness, but mercifully for them He retained their branches on the true olive tree.

He promised the Lost Ten Tribes that if they would believe and continue in belief by observing the Torah, eventually He would graft them back into the true olive tree, united with Yahudah and restore them to their original position with Him.

Yisrael was likened to an olive tree, with Yahuah being the ROOT, Yahusha the TRUNK or STEM, and the twelve tribes being the BRANCHES, some being the Yehudim, the remainder being the Lost Ten Tribes. However these last branches were cut off by the husbandman Yahuah, when they went into idolatry and He discarded them and likened them to a wild olive tree. Then they became two olive trees, the good fruitful tree and the wild unfruitful tree.

Yehezqel chapter 37: 15 - 28 says that they are likened to two sticks or BRANCHES being grafted and joined together into one. They would then be restored to His favour and become betrothed to Him once again, leading up to “the Marriage Feast of the Lamb”.

In Yeshayahu 62: 4, 5 Yahuah called Yisrael ‘Hephsibah’, ‘My Beloved’, and your land ‘Married’. Previously by Moses He had set up a Marriage Covenant with the twelve tribes of Yisrael, when they promised to obey Him faithfully, but within 500 years had failed miserably and degraded into idolatrous pagan worship.

The two olive trees are again mentioned in Revelation 11: 2 - 13. It appears that they represent the two divided houses of Yisrael, the two witnesses, Moses a Levite representing Yahudah, and Eliyah an Ephraimite representing the Lost Ten Tribes. These are the same witnesses who were seen with Yahusha in the Transfiguration, on the Day of Atonement, six months before His impaling on the tree. Even though the two witnesses will be treated abominably and will be slain by evil worldly people, they will be raised from the dead through the resurrection power of Yahuah to rule and reign with Him.

The two olive trees are raised, though apparently dead,

and being grafted together into the true olive tree,

which is made up of Yahuah the Root, Yahusha the Trunk,

and the worthy elect from the twelve tribes of Yisrael being the Branches.

This will be His bride worshipping Him in the heavenly temple

made without hands, to rule and reign with Him forever.
